Innovation projects carry uncertainty. A technology can work in a demonstration and run into trouble when connected to the company's real data and processes. That's why a proof of concept — a PoC — can be a useful step.

What does a PoC try to answer?

It can help assess whether the approach is technically viable, whether the available data is adequate, whether the quality fits the context, and whether the hypothesis deserves a larger implementation.

Experiment before investing more

At Fasters, PoCs are part of the Innovation structure as a mechanism to test new technologies and analyze impact before larger implementations.

A PoC can also say "no"

Finding out early that an approach doesn't meet the problem's needs can prevent a bigger investment in the wrong direction. Innovation isn't about proving every idea works. It's about learning in order to decide better.

After the PoC

A validated hypothesis may still require architecture, security, integration, experience, operations, and monitoring. A demonstration isn't automatically a production-ready system.

Experimenting small can be a good way to decide big.
